Hello!
Recently I have experienced a problem where it takes a very long time to load certain webpages. Some pages load quickly with no problem but others takes for ages. Mostly secure pages take forever...
I tryed to install the IE6 sp1 but in middle of installation the program says that this update has not been tested to work properly by microsoft!?!?!? Wierd cause I downloaded it from microsoft. I have Java console aktive & I have installed the JVM.
Thx

Yes I use XP
I have managed to install the sp1 now but the problem is still there, can changes in the Lan-settings cause this!? a few weeks back I used a script for automatical configuration but dont have that checked now. I use automatic identification of settings now.

in IE go to Help->About Internet Explorer

give us the full Version Number and the Cipher Strength please

this will give us info directly related to you accessing secure websites.

Basically we need to know whether you're are running XP with service pack 2 and if your cypher strength is listed as 128 bit

I have noticed if I empty IE history & temporary files & delete all cookies a certain webpage loads normally & quite fast, but if I close that IE window, then open a new one & try to go to same webpage, it takes a very long time for that same page to load...

If it was me I would have IE Always empty the temporary internet files when I close it.

To do this got to Tools->Options and on the 'Advanced' Tab down to the 'Security' section and select "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed"

this will clear out that folder, but won't get rid of cookies or auto complete entries etc.

this seems like it would only be a partial solution, but I'm outta ideas other than as Ferrit says to run Windows Update, or to check here (http://www.windows-help.net/WindowsXP/troub-10.html)
