After installing SP2 I lost the "properties" function and "sharing" function for a folder. If I right click a folder and then select either properties or sharing nothing happens. I do get the properties and/or sharing on the root of a drive.
This occurs on 2 XP PRO Desktop PC's that I installed SP2 on but does not occur on an XP Pro Laptop that I installed SP2 on.
I saw references to this problem in several posts on the forums available through Microsoft Support but I did not see any resolution.

I had the same problem and could solve it with this:
in Windows explorer Menu: Tools -> choose folder options -> Tab: View -> select : use simple file sharing (recommended) -> apply
then again but unselect: single file sharing (recommended) -> apply
after I did that all the folder properties windows I requested opened together !!!

Actually I had already tried your suggestion but it did not fix my problem. After much research and a posting that I found on another forum I got it fixed.
The problem was caused by the Windows XP component
"Internet Information Service". I am not sure why I had it installed, but I removed it and the problem with Folder Properties was fixed.
MS was no help and I am waiting on a response on what the actual problem is.

Having IIS there also turns on ICS (Internet connection sharing), as sp2 changes things here for security reasons, my guess is someone at M$ is gonna come back (if they do at all) & say 'behaviour by design' .. ;)
Anyway glad its fixed  , & while I'm here, welcome to the forums michel_a :thumbs2:, very nice to see someone starting out their posting here by trying to help ! :)
