irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/) not only is it a free lightning fast image viewer, but it will do scanning/batch scanning and about 1000 other things better than any other software. :)

I think you can just send Irfan $10, from the 'what is irfanview' link...

If you intend to use IrfanView at your place of business or for commercial purposes, please register and purchase it. I want to continue working on this program, therefore, your registration will be a incentive for me to add new functions and increase the program's quality.

Any suggestions, feedback and comments are welcome and won't be ignored.

If you are a commercial user and you like this program (or are a home user who wants to support/donate further development), please register/donate by sending US$ 10.00 or EUR 10,- (this is the price for one (single) licence) to the address below.

Do you have microsoft office?

If you do then you should have photoeditor - photoed.exe is the file name. You make have to install it from the office cd. That solves your licencing problem and will interface with any scanner.

Have you investigated openoffice.org?
