i get the notorious "printer could not be installed" when trying to install this printer on xp and wondering if anyone had a workaround or solution. This is a well documented error.

there is no dowload of the driver anymore and the one in XP does not work. apparently there is no solution for this (at least from microsoft) and wondering if anyone had a work around or if it is time for a new printer......

HP Deskjet Printers - Installing the Printer with the Driver Included in Microsoft(R) Windows XP (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lang=en&lc=en&cc=us&docname=bpd09005&lang=en&cc=us)

There is no need to download a printer driver from the Web. The drivers for HP Deskjet printers are included in Windows XP.

There are step-by-step procedures listed.
