King Grover October 4th, 2004, 09:27 AM it means uhhh.....ummm..... hmmm.... what DOES it mean? jitBob October 4th, 2004, 09:37 AM Think before you post. Leave the cussin' to others. Try to remember the golden rule. Sometimes I am an utter failure. http://forums.windrivers.com/images/smilies/sad2.gif freddy October 4th, 2004, 09:38 AM Ok, so what does it exactly mean to act like an adult? not to act like a child? tis hard to do Ya_know October 4th, 2004, 09:41 AM It means there's kids around, and you need to get rid of them because the are starting to annoy the crap out of you...so you give them the excuse that it's time for them to leave, because you want to have an "adult" conversation... TripleRLtd October 4th, 2004, 09:45 AM Ok, so what does it exactly mean to act like an adult?Ah, "playing" ignorant again, hey Cleete?http://forums.windrivers.com/images/smilies/wavey.gif (http://forums.windrivers.com/misc.php?do=getsmilies#) Cleetus October 4th, 2004, 09:54 AM Ah, "playing" ignorant again, hey Cleete?http://forums.windrivers.com/images/smilies/wavey.gif (http://forums.windrivers.com/misc.php?do=getsmilies#) Answer the question, how freaking hard is that. corturbra October 4th, 2004, 09:58 AM Mmmm to act like an adult.... Well I guess you'd start by respecting the opinion of others, you'd then (if you disagreed) retort with an intelligent, factual based response pertaining to the matter at hand instead of resorting to name calling and sarcastic comments. I guess acting like an adult would also mean being responsible for your own actions and realising when you've made a mistake and apologising for it. Or you could just say my Dad is bigger than your Dad? meatwad October 4th, 2004, 10:06 AM Up your butt with a coconut, doo doo head. I ain't tellin. Tekboy October 4th, 2004, 10:19 AM Ok, so what does it exactly mean to act like an adult? Get fake ID and go to Hooters? Major Kong October 4th, 2004, 10:29 AM Ok, so what does it exactly mean to act like an adult? To be honest I really don't know...my limited view has always been take responsibility for your life, admit when you are in error and the quest for great tasting sipping whiskey. http://forums.windrivers.com/images/smilies/pbeer.gif Camaro80z October 4th, 2004, 10:30 AM Ok, so what does it exactly mean to act like an adult? Complain that the majority of people do not spend all of their time doing what you think this site was made for? (even though this group includes you) Complain that a certain topic should have it's own area because you do not want to hear about it, and then post in that seperate area as much as anyone that is directly effect by that topic? Act like you know what is best for this site and that you opinion is the only one that matters? Talk down to everyone on this board? Never admit that you are wrong or that this is not a issue you know for sure, but instead turn it into a pissing match with other members? drewmaztech October 4th, 2004, 10:30 AM Act all "mature" around other people but when no one's around --- sit on your livingroom floor in your underwear, watching tv, eating an entire tub of icecream and beer... why? because you can! there's no one to say no! Tekboy October 4th, 2004, 10:38 AM My actual opinion is that to act like an adult means to take responsibility for your actions, pay your bills on time, treat others with respect and dignity, treat others the way you want to be treated, and do the next right thing as often as possible. I fall far short of this mark quite often, unfortunately, but I keep trying. Which is the other adult thing for me these days, which is to just keep trying, no matter what the adversity may be, or what it may appear to be, since I have learned that things are not always what they appear to be. Tekboy October 4th, 2004, 11:20 AM See............you don't have to be mature to be an adult, just of legal age. Yes, but the question had to do with ACTING like an adult. amyb October 4th, 2004, 11:24 AM knowing that running with scissors can hurt you. :p Camaro80z October 4th, 2004, 11:37 AM knowing that running with scissors can hurt you. :p Really? Camaro80z October 4th, 2004, 12:30 PM Yeah, why did he start the thread??? Read some of his posts from this weekend. That is how I spent a good part of the morning. WebHead October 4th, 2004, 12:31 PM I believe a person is an adult when they have grown their wings and flown away from the nest. As far as "acting" like and adult,.. I prefer to not "act" at all and just be myself. confus-ed October 4th, 2004, 12:53 PM If you look at why Cleetus started this thread you will see. Hey I ressemble that remark (or more accurately the preceeding bit which generated that answer) - well apparently according to Cleetus I do , though it wasn't me moaning about endless political threads, & I do value other opinion rather than just 'dissing' it & generally I only call folks names when they actually deserve it & have resorted to it themselves & I don't do this reverse blame business & feigning of ignorance which you seem to have spectacularly overlooked .. So I think Cleetus is busy laughing his arse off once again, no wonder he keeps at it .. You probably need to know too that not only shouldn't you run with scissors, but you shouldn't stick your tounge into electrical sockets either ..:p TripleRLtd October 4th, 2004, 01:03 PM So, is Cleetus now sulking? http://forums.windrivers.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Cleetus October 4th, 2004, 01:23 PM Nope sitting in a corner and laughing all the while the purple monsters are trying to eat my brain WebHead October 4th, 2004, 01:25 PM Nope sitting in a corner and laughing all the while the purple monsters are trying to eat my brain Me too! :eek2: Camaro80z October 4th, 2004, 01:29 PM Hey I ressemble that remark (or more accurately the preceeding bit which generated that answer) - well apparently according to Cleetus I do , though it wasn't me moaning about endless political threads, & I do value other opinion rather than just 'dissing' it & generally I only call folks names when they actually deserve it & have resorted to it themselves & I don't do this reverse blame business & feigning of ignorance which you seem to have spectacularly overlooked .. That was the point. I tried to take what cleetus is bichin about and exaggerate it. If I really saw it as an issue, I would have no problem letting you know. I think the main thing that causes drama around is definition. Some try to define what we are supposed to talk about and how we are supposed to act. I think that is wrong for the lounge. I think we all need to chill out and let it flow. It will all work out. TripleRLtd October 4th, 2004, 01:36 PM Yes, you do resemble that remark. That was the point. To take what cleetus is bichin about and exaggerate it. If I really saw it as an issue, I would have no problem letting you know. Uh, let me try to understand this. Cleete gets "called" on what he did to a good friend of this forum, and you call it exaggeration? In fact, if I do recall, you did take issue with it. So, now you choose to flip the script on -ed? I, for one, don't get it Z. Camaro80z October 4th, 2004, 01:39 PM Uh, let me try to understand this. Cleete gets "called" on what he did to a good friend of this forum, and you call it exaggeration? Sorry, I was trying to do 2 things at once when I was writing that (damn work). Here, I fixed it and this is what it should said: Yes, you do resemble that remark. That was the point. Ok. http://forums.windrivers.com/images/smilies/thumbs.gif confus-ed October 4th, 2004, 01:57 PM Christ-sakes .. ..I waded through Cleetus the aggravator and Ya_know the aggressor... shook my head and literally walked away. I wonder if either of them are proud of their ability to stir things up for their own entertainment. Frankly, had they been in school, they would have been suspended for bullying. If I had aired my opinion, it would have just set the whole thing going again As my workload increases one of two things will happen. I will become short tempered and just summarily delete threads or I will walk away. Neither of which are satisfactory responses (however good that feels at the time). Perhaps a cooling off period would be in order for those who feel that it's fun to diminish others in any way. Yes that is a direct warning or threat - whatever way you want to read it. I no longer have the time for the sound approach of getting to the bottom of the problem and trying to find a middle ground where all are equally (un)happy. Mrs nicegal just left the building So it ain't just me sees it this way. We tried the 'geezer' approach, but as usual Cleetus has managed to twist it all about to make himself look the injured party & you are falling for it ..? Cleetus October 4th, 2004, 02:05 PM Told you I am smarter then all of you  TripleRLtd October 4th, 2004, 02:10 PM Told you I am smarter then all of you :devil:Well, if ignorance is bliss, then, yeah, you be smarter than all of us. http://forums.windrivers.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif Cleetus October 4th, 2004, 02:38 PM Well, if ignorance is bliss, then, yeah, you be smarter than all of us. http://forums.windrivers.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif See, even you still insult rather then try to come up with some all purpose or even just a generic term that somehow complies with others views on what acting like an adult is. You have all very much proved my point that while one might say "act like an adult" nobody can really come up with a consensus on what that actually means, esp here on the not so adult board NooNoo October 4th, 2004, 02:40 PM Personally I think Cleetus, if you have to ask, you will never know. Glad they didn't say that about the birds and the bees ;) Actually, I was never told the significance of the birds and the bees, I was just given some old porno's. What the hell is the deal with birds and bees? King Grover October 4th, 2004, 02:50 PM i wonder the same thing. i learned all i know from playboy and pentouse and an old movie i found somewhere. birds, bees = what teh? Yet if someone doesn't act all mature or adult then they are derided for being a child with a child mentality and pushed out. Good thing I am just like the Southern Peter Pan and **** yo, I ain't ever growin up B King Grover October 4th, 2004, 03:07 PM I am just like the Southern Peter Pan i like this quote. it fits you so well. thirdfey October 5th, 2004, 08:02 AM I believe a person is an adult when they have grown their wings and flown away from the nest. Cleetus October 5th, 2004, 08:45 AM So does that make me a pirate and not a lost boy? confus-ed October 5th, 2004, 08:54 AM It doesn't make you anything more or less than you were before & nearly all the words I'd choose get blocked by the profanity checker, one that doesn't though is moron .. So I think you are due some sanction 1. no racism, don't be a moron and argue with the mods, etc. Care to persist ? It is after all exactly what I'd like you to do, then we can give up with nonsense & get the forum back to being about helping folks, with a little light banter inbetween, instead of letting you look more of an idiot, than you obviously were in the first place. Cleetus October 5th, 2004, 08:59 AM Wow, right out of the gates with the insults. Are you a mod now? Honestly, I was never as mean to anyone as you are to me right now, or were to Ya_know back when he was sharing his concern about the motorcycle incident. Cleetus October 5th, 2004, 09:00 AM And you didn't answer the question, am I a pirate or a lost boy? iceman October 6th, 2004, 10:18 AM We'll settle for just lost. windrivers.com
