Hi Gang,

My machine wants to go into Scandisk whenever I reboot my machine. Not only this but it wants to do a Thorough Scandisk.

I've done a thorough Scandisk on both drives, C & D, but I still get the errror messages.

McAfee FirstAid detects "Mismatched Fats" but doesn't fix them. It crashes instead. Norton Disk Doctor doesn't detect the problem at all. WD, the HD manufactorer say in its PowerMax Utility that everything is fine. There are no clicking or knocking sounds coming from my HD's.

This problem may have started when I mistakenly tried to install a Playstation 2 file on my machine. Although it could also be be because I have GoBack 3 or because I have Broadband.

Win98SE
WD 20G HD 72rpm
Seagate 40G HD 48rpm
IE6
Roxio GoBack Pro
Comcast High-Speed

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks,
Orangeman

It might be that your FAT is bad.
on fat (16) and fat32 there are two file tables for each partition, whebever there is a mismatch between the two Tables - you cant tell which of the copies is good.
I strongly believe that if Backup the file, format the effected partition than everyhting will be alright.

Cheers.
