Hi everybody
I'm able to log on to my windows XP Pro with no problems, but when using the task manager to lock my computer I'm unable to unlock it using the same password. SP1 installed, not yet installed SP2, this has never caused problems until recent power failure, I have tried system restore. :drink:

Have you tried resetting the password in user manager?

Did you have a user account and then later change the user name? I have seen this happen where windows wants the old user name.

Thanks Guys
But all the above seem to relate to being part of a Domain, this is a stand alone home computer with just an administrator account.

If you use a screen saver for example, Do you have it password protected when you back to working on it?, you could unclick that. Did you install XP yourself or was it preinstalled? If you did it I would log on with the administrator account that was setup with XP Pro and change your password that should clear the problem up. If it was preinstalled I would consult with the manufacture of your computer. I hope this helps

Nope, nothing to do with being in a domain. Start menu | Settings | Control Panel | User Accounts. Then reset password.
