Ever since I installed the new service pack 2 for Windows XP, my game (that I just purchased about a month ago from Wal-Mart) has gone hay-wire. When the ID logo screen loads, I have sound, but the video display is a solid gray background. Then when the menu loads for the game, the background turns solid white, the menu words show up as burgandy blocks (red when highlighted), and the cursor shows as a gray block. Though I'm familiar enough with the menu to get into the game, once I do, all the colors are screwy. It looks as if I'm viewing through some hyper-intense light spectrum goggles or something crazy like that. I'm sure this is some sort of video display problem, but I've tried a multitude of settings, re-installing the drivers and the game, updated the drivers too and Direct X, which I'm running the latest version (I keep up to date on all my windows updates, though now I'm wondering if I should've just left SP2 ALONE !!). I've even tried using XP's compatability modes and attempted running the game using Win 95, 98, and 2000. Same problem. I've treid to run it in different resolutions and different settings to no avail. I would appreciate it if you could tell me of some sort of update, patch, or some advice on how to correct this problem. I've looked at the Windows Update page for any help and could find none, the same for the Activision Value Support web page (it didn't even have Quake III listed, only I and II), and the quake3world page isn't loading :grrr: . I'm using a HP Pavilion 7935 with an AMD Athlon 1.3 GHz processor, 368 MB of RAM, with Windows XP (as I've already said), using a S3 ProSavage 2A26. I'm not getting any error messages, and I KNOW my machine can handle the dag-gum game, I played it often pre-SP2. Thanks in advance for any help. :mumbles:
