I installed a wireless network card in my daughter's computer. I want to disable the ethernet card in her Compaq p866 ENC computer because I think it's slowing down the computer looking for a net work that isn't there. (I bought the computer as an end-of-lease that was part of a network). Even when I delete the system info, the card keeps re-installing everytime I reboot. The nic card is an inboard apparatus. Is there any way to get rid of it. Thanks

Welcome to Windrivers ddp.
Right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware
scroll down to Network adapters, click to find the nic, right click, properties, disable.
Or open up the case and yank the card out :)

You could check out the BIOS to see if it can be disabled straight from there also, but the disabling in Windows Device Manager (or just disabling it in WinXP Network Connections with a right-click) should work.
