Hi,
I recently installed SUSE 9.0 on my system. During the install I was prompted to enter a user name and password, also noticed autologon was checked. I did not enter a name or password. After install and reboot KDE logon screen appeared and required a name and password. I'm a newbie to the Linux world and would appreciate any help. Also how would I configure a dual boot system with SUSE and XP. Thanks.

the installer should have made you enter a password for root

log in with

username: root
password: one_from_setup

for dual booting what boot manager are you running grub or lilo? cause you will need to edit the grub or lilo config file

This did not work, I guess I'll have to reinstall OS and pay closer attention to what the prompts are asking me. As far as grub or lilo I'm not sure how to tell which one I'm using.

Maybe this will help: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/archive/4/2001/07/1/3947

Have you tried to type su or sudo su to become root?
