My Problem: Computer is ms-6390u series MBoard with AMD1800xp 256mb ram. Printer installed Brother DCP110c usb2 cable.
When starting up with printer power off computer starts up perfect turn printer on all works perfect.
Problem start computer up with printer already turned on. computer fails to even start the memory test.
Printer checks out ok. all usb ports work with USB Mouse.

Hi

I think there is some BIOS options for USB you need to overlook, It might be anything from Legacy USB support to Disable USB support in DOS. Check your MotherBoard manual and find any options, check by disabling or enabling the same.

Sorry :confused: for not being able to give you a clear picture .

Hope it might be a good point to look for :thumbs:

Have you looked at documentation for your printer? (http://global.solutions.brother.com/dcp110c_eu_as/en_us/download/)

It should have power-on procedures which should eliminate the printer as being the cause of the problem.

Had a similar problem with a printer with smart media slots like the Brother DPC110c. Apparently, depending upon the Motherboard BIOS settings, the system may be trying to boot from the USB device. Look in the BIOS settings for something that controls legacy USB or boot from USB device, turn that off, and you should then be OK.
