I am having a problem with my Netgear HE102 802.11a Access Point. When ever I plug the acess point in the power light blinks but that is it. It says in the user's guide that if the light is blinking then there is a system fault. I also cannot get into the config tool from IE anymore.

Have you tried a hardware reset on your AP ? Usualy there's a little tiny hole around the back into which you press a paperclip or similar for a bit (differs by model so check your mannual) very often this helps anyway ;)

Yes I did many times, but it did not work.

So has it ever worked? you say "..cannot get into the config tool from IE anymore." which says to me it did .. can you ping whatever IP it should have locally or not ? (the mannual will tell you what IP it should have in a 'reset state') first we need to make sure of the wiring ..

Yes it did work. I also tried to ping it, but that did not work. No problems with the wires either, I tested all of the cables.

I ran into pretty much the same problem. When you said you had done a hardware reset "many times" I could relate.
I ended up starting all over. Uninstalled all the software and reinstalled everything.
Never really figured out what had gone wrong to begin with, but it works fine now.

..pressumably if this is an access point, we have 'other stuff' (wireless/wired networking devices/components) floating about ?

Assuming that, can you get this pc to connect any other way to anything ? (I want to establish if its something on the pc you are trying it on somehow ?) - its all very well us chasing down what might be wrong with the access point physically - but it might be something else yet ! ;)

(oh btw slipping back to what might be wrong with the AP - have you tried a firmware flash for that ?)
