I bought 2 P4 MB's a 865PE by MSI and a 875P by ASUS. Both have the MPS Rev. 1.1 and 1.4 settings. I read in 1 form that it was best to set the Rev to 1.4 if I was useing a Modem, but this was an OversClockers form. I don't wish to OC, I just don't want the system to crach or lock up when playing games or for that fact any time. I'm runing Windows 98SE, 5 Computers, VGA cards are Ti4200 4X, Ti4200 8X, FX5600 Ultra, ATI 9700 Pro. CPU's rang from PIII 1.3 to P4 2.66 and AMD XP1800, 1900, 2100. I just want a basic idea of what the MPS Rev is for and what it does. Thanks everyone for the help.

unless you are using a multi-processor system you do not need to mess around with the MPS setting.

Newer OS support the 1.4 revision, you only need 1.1 if you are on an older OS.

But as I stated this is moot unless you are running a MPS system (Multi-processor)
