CDRom/Burner

I am having a problem with IDE CDRom and Burner. Bios list both items; but when windows loads "no CDRom and burner" listed. In Device manager, they are listed with an ! mark by both items. Under prop. tab it
list drivers are loaded, but unable to locate the device, [code 41]?
Also, my USB satelite modem is unoperational.

O/S= XP Pro- SP 1
Abit MotherBoard N7F
Processor= XP2400
Memory 512 MB, DDR2100

Any help or suggestions is appreciated.

Have you tried booting the system in safe mode and removing the cdroms and then rebooting asnd letting it reinstall?
Is any of this newly installed?
