Optical drives dont need drivers. confus-ed February 9th, 2005, 03:14 PM ..Optical drives dont need drivers. ..to read with ;) but they do to write (usually added by some 3rd party burning app or by windows in xp via the 'cd burning service') & they of course need suitable CODECS to enable playback of encrypted stuff like dvd, strictly speaking a driver which only adds a partial control is a 'filter driver' - its to do with calling classes & other such programming stuff :). But here BOBMAC2345 seems to be having trouble with just one bit of burning s/w seeing his dvd ? If you've got stuff like virtual drives or any other burning software present, uninstall the lot & then try your application again, very often all these different filter drivers conflict, some programs failing to take account or interfering with others) & you have checked with the authors of your program that your burner is supported, you'll find it'll take time sometimes for newer units to get added .. windrivers.com
