tv-out

Hi, I'm running an ATI All-In-Wonder 9600.

I just started using tv out on the card yesterday. But i've had the card since feburary last year. Anyways, when i use the tv-out function i can see the computer on the tv just fine. I can play games, surf, but i can't seem to watch movies.

When i want to watch a movie it will only display on the monitor but not the tv. the tv-out will display the frame of the player and my desktop but where the movie should be, it isn't there, jus black screen. I recently bought a LCD, could create a conflict between tv and monitor?

So I think you are gonna find this is a 'feature' :rolleyes:.. ;) - most cards & chipsets despite the impression the marketing hype gives can only support a thing called 'overlay' on one screen at once, & for the purposes of this thread think 'overlay=live video' (there are cards that do this properly like the Parehelia's from matrox)..

In general, Video Overlay will only be available on the primary display adapter. If the TV Tuner is being used with a secondary adapter then the overlay feature required by the ATI TV Player will not be available.

To correct this, the display adapter must be configured as the primary display. Check with your motherboard owner's manual for ways to configure your display adapter as PRIMARY in the motherboard BIOS setup.

So not having one of these myself (or not anymore, last time I had an 'all-in-wonder' they only came with 2mb of memory ) .. I'll need to ask whether this driver/card has an option for 'clone' ? (which is where the same thing is output to all sources) & generally is how you watch this on your tv (its how I use my VIVO {video in/video out} card) - if it does, just use that :).

Update the multimedia centre you should be able to watch a movie on the tv and computer at one time or watch a movie on the tv and use your desktop at one time using hydravision

Btw what got you going ? (I'm thinking Ferrit's advice above will be it, as mulimedia centre is what controls all the ouputs with an all in woinder, doing any cloning automaticlly. Hydravision is for switching applications between monitors)
