I am on site installing a control system and I'm getting a problem with the printer. The printer is an HP DJ890C connected to our system with a Lexmark MarkPro1 net box. We are printing via LPR

When I try to print I keep getting a Dr Watson showing an access violation from SPOOLSS. I get this even when I print from Administrator, but I don't get it all the time. Once this violation has occurred I can't access the printer as the RPC function is not available, I have to shut down and restart SPOOLSS before I can do anything more with the printer.

I am running NT4 SP5 and using the current version of the HP driver downloaded from their site.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Rob

Sorted!

The HP 550C driver is compatible and doesn't crash SPOOLSS.

Thanx anyhow.

Rob is right on. the 550 driver is a beautiful thing. Almost all deskjets work well with it. G-Luck
