I have barerly used HP Pavilion5200 laptop which LCD got broken recently. One day I just came in turned it on and display was all dark I couldn't see anything. Laptop works perfect on external display so it's not graphic card. After little while, when it warms up display is getting these weird mixed up colors (blurry green) but you still can't see anything in windows. I took display apart: connection isn't loose, inverter doesn't look burned or anything so I don't know what to do. Most likely it's inverter but I'm not 100% sure.
Should I measure the voltage to determine if it's good or not?
What can be causing it??
Please help me ....................

I would lean more towards a defective LCD. If the inverter was all that was wrong, you would still be able to make out things if you looked really hard as all there would just be no backlight. Since you are getting random colours on the screen after a while (LCD I'm assuming, not the external display) it really points to a LCD problem.

The inverter on HP laptops of that series of laptop is a common failiure when I worked to service those HP units. If you have the part number of the laptop itself I can get you the inverter's part number and an estimated cost from hp. The part number is on the bottom sticker with a letter and 4 or 5 digit number. Often the letter is F on laptops. ex F3469. You can also look up info on partsurfer.hp.com

PS if your seeing random colors on the screen then the lcd is probably cracked and would need to be replaced.
