I hope this is the right place to ask a question. After downloading MS Update, pc sound stopped working. No conflicts show up in drivers. I have uninstalled the above driver and rebooted PC - still no sound. I have a Win2000, Version 5 SP 4. Any help to figure out how to get this sound card to work would be most appreciated.

What computer/motherboard?
What MS update?
Creative made a million versions of these. Is this a pci card or integrated into motherboard? If latter you will need drivers from m/b or pc maker. If former look at card for code in form of CT####

Gosh, I have no idea. I have a Dell Dimension L433C. Does this help?
How can I tell if it's a card or on the motherboard?

Hudson - thank you for the link to the driver. I followed the link and download to 3 floppys the DEnLeW07.exe file. I executed Disk #1 and it ran just fine and finished. Wanted a reboot - so I did that. No change in problem. Here is more info the the problem: When I go to Control Panel --> Sounds and Multimedia - I can select a scheme and click on an event and hear the appropriate .wav file from there. However, when the events actually occur (like an incoming e-mail), all I hear is a faint little beep in the background, not the .wav file. I don't hear the Windows Start-up .wav file when the machine reboots. Is any of this helpful? I do appreciate your help.
