I recently moved and just getting around to hookup my Mustek 1200ed flatbed scanner and the light doesn't light up correctly, like a blown fluorestant light bulb. Any comments? http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smilies/cwm31.gif

Such is life...

Check out some of the closeout deals on new scanners at BUY.COM (http://www.us.buy.com/retail/clearance/subcat.asp?loc=13086). I've got one of the Epson Perfection 636U scanners and it works really well; simple to set up, too... http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smilies/cwm17.gif

If it's just the light, open the scanner, remove the tube and pay a visit to your local electrical store.Ask them for a fluorescent tube of the same size. Over here in England, these sort of tubes are often found fitted into stuff like bedroom furniture, closets, etc. I've used them to replace blown tubes in Microtek scanners. At about 5 bucks, it's worth a shot ...

I thought scanner lamps were much brighter than standard fluorescent lamps. Not so, eh? Ya learn something new every day... http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/smilies/cwm17.gif
