I'm going through my first time trying to identify the manufacturer and model of my sound card. (I've got the dreaded "yellow exclamation point" in the Device Manager.) I've looked at the sound card and it has the initials CE on it. Does anyone know the name of the manufacturer and is this enough to find a driver to download???

We need more info on card to id it, like any numbers on it, numbers off the largest chip on the card, or the FCC id numbers

Thanks. I just realized that I gave the wrong initials for the manufacturer. The correct initials that are on the sound card are CE. Do you recognize this as the initials for a manufacturer of sound cards? How can I get a list of manufacturers? Thanks again for such a quick reply!

Welcome to WinDrivers, SunSpace.
As Sly says, we'll need some more information, CE relates to manufacturing standards.
A good way to find out more about the system components is to download the free Everest Home Edition (http://www.lavalys.com/products.php?lang=en) program, install it on the system and let us know what it reports about the sound.

Good daay Platypus. (God I bet your tired of that, eh?)
I downloaded the free Everest Home Edition and ran it on my computer as you suggested. Lots of cool looking data.
You said I should "let us know what it reports about the sound", so what exactly should I report and how and to whom?
Thanks for your help.

G'day yourself! :)
It should give some information on the Audio Adaptor, just tell us what it says about it. Or from Everest you can save a report as a .txt file and then paste the sections about sound into a post here.

'CE' is just marking on the product that it conforms to the European Standard.
The CE mark is a mandatory European marking for certain product groups to indicate conformity with the essential health and safety requirements set out in European Directives. The letters 'CE' are an abbreviation of Conformité Européenne
