hey guys, along with the usual mortgage and viagra ads in e-mail, I recently noticed my spam mail is loaded with mail in a variety of forms talking about failed deliveries, full mail box (i only use outlook), delivery status notification(failure), info@ hotmail and msn password update-I don't use hotmail or msn, your mail is blocked from postmaster@yahoo and the list goes on. They all have a zip file attached which is empty. I have scanned my PC with my E-trust and online, ran spybot and adaware all with nothing found.

Is this something i should be concerned with or just let it pass?

We get this periodically at work, I think most likely someone with your address in their address book has had their system compromised, and there has been a broadcast with "spoofed" addresses, some being yours.

Unfortunately these days there's no way to know just where there's a system with your email addy sitting in its address book!

Thanks for the reply Platypus. I thought that was the case but wasn't sure. I am behind a router, use at least one A/V all the time, software firewall, and update the heck out of everything therefore I have never had a serious virus and this was/is so many occurences that i was concerned I had failed.

Since your system is well protected and comes up clean, I'd be pretty sure it's a case of spoofing.

We had a bunch of these last week. All undeliverables returned from our own domain name. One of the machines had a couple of trojans on there that I blasted.

I suggest scanning all computers on the network in safe mode with the latest AV definitions with whatever AV software you use just to be on the safe side.
