My daughter just brought her computer home from college and wow for viruses that Norton never caught. I don't know what virus it was, but it took the system volume out. I mean out, no file exists in the computer for it. I have the sound card, volume icon, but no system volume information folder. So needless to say, no sound.
Can someone help me or direct me to help so I can get this repaired.
Thank you in advance

P.S. System restore does not work as this was sometime last November that she lost the volume.

Welcome to Wnidrivers missnabis.

Give us a little more info to work with....
What make and model of computer is it? ( Dell, Compaq, Gateway, etc.)
What operating system is it running? (Win XP or Win ME would be my guess)
This will help us narrow down what the sound card is and find you replacement drivers.

The computer is an E-Machine with Windows Xp as an operating system. It is an Avance AC97 sound card and the drivers are working ok. When I go through and do a search for system volume, there is nothing there, not like the other XP I have here. So I do not think it is the sound card and drivers but what else could it be?? Help me please.
Thank you for the welcome Shamus.

Right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager

Find your soundcard under Sound, video and game controllers and right click > Uninstall
Restart your machine and let XP reinstall the drivers. Although it appears that the drivers are okay, if your missing system volume than there is something amiss and undoubtably corrupted. Windows will sometimes tell you everthing's fine even when it isn't.
Surprise! :)

Hi Shamus,
Thank you very much, we have sound. All this so my husband can play his new game, Leisure Suit Larry.
I must say that this site is swesome and I will be back later today with another question in regards to networking with my computer at work.
Again, thanks.
