I gave safe mode a try but as I suspected it did not help. I have managed to get the installationstarted upt to the point where it wants to copy photo.se_ to photo.set, but it stops there because it says that the correct number of bytes is not being transferred and suggests the file photo.se_ is corrupt (or the destination disk is corrupt). I suspect that the Scantak.zip file contains the corruption and the question seems to be - where can I get a clean copy of the appropriate driver for my scantak? Any more advice would be appreciated.

First off. No need to start a new topic to answer. Just choose reply or you might loose the people who are trying to help. I did a little more research for you and found the following link to Scantak (http://webhome.idirect.com/~cati/scan.html#spot) drivers. I don't know which model you have but it looks like you might have the 12p. Each of the Scantak models listed in bold is a link the the proper driver. Good luck.
