I have installed 3 Panasonic cf-29 computers with a Ledco docking station....I've had nothing but problems since...I have the ledco drivers which i get prompted for when i first turn the computers on. i install the drivers (4 times) and everything seems fine until i attempt to launch the aircard. The aircard will not fire up when drivers are installed...so i did take drivers off so the cars could run their mobile piece/air card...of course, everytime they start the computer they get prompted to install the drivers which they cancel out of and then the mobile/air card runs fine...here's a list of other problems occuring: 1) constant IPS connection termination
2) Units occasionally power off by themselves
3) Screens turn dark. Contrast/light functions don't solve problem

FYI: I also have a scanner and GPS plugged into ledco docking station.
An help or ideas would be great...ledco & Panasonic are absolutely useless.....Thanks

It's probable no-one has experience of that particular combination, I certainly don't, although I would suspect a resource conflict as a likely cause. Have you checked the resource allocations for the various drivers when they are loaded?

Someone familiar with this kit may still come along, but in the meantime, it could be worth also posting the query on VirtualDr:

Some experienced techs frequent there.

I found this on Ledco's website here:
http://www.ledco.net/support.cfm

Bulletin #020501: Power Requirements for CF-29

This notice only relates to LEDCO CF-29 docking stations with serial numbers starting with P29B sold from November 2004 to January 2005. The P29A series (CF29 Docking Station with Advanced Hub- PDSCF29IPSAH) is not affected.

Does your serial number fall into this category? Or, the one not affected by this bulletin?

It talks about several problems they are having including Power, needing a more positivie locking mechanism, etc. They also looks like they are offering RMA's if you qualify.

Don j--I already checked that out and the computer was not purchased until march 2005 so that shouldn't be the problem but i will cehck with ledco anyways..thank

Platypus--Thanks, i'm going to post on that site...I have already checked the resources, i did run into that problem when i first started the computer but that was fixed...thanks again...

If your unit is that new, then I would definitely RMA it.

I called the client who i installed it for and i have him checking the serial numbers..I work for a central police agency and these computers/docking stations are used in police vehicles....I know the cops haven't had a chance to break the computer yet!!!! The computers may have been ordered earlier...All the problems definately stem from the power unit...Its just odd thats all...I imaged the computer here and started the aircard and everything worked fine..until i plugged it into the dckng station...then i was prompted to install drivers for 4 ports...cancel through and everything works fine...aircard/vpn drops now and again but overall everything works...when i installed the ledco drivers i wasn't prompted anymore BUT the aircard wouldn't even initilize after i just had it running..weird stuff...thanks for any ideas you may have...

So how are these units being powered then?

The units are powered through a hardline from the car battery..I don't think power is the issue; it seems to be a drivers/port problem

Could you run one unit in-house on regular AC power for a while just to eliminate whatever form of DC power supply you are using?

i have installed all 4 that i have. and i'd rather not have to uninstall them, but i'm taking a ride to go out there today to mess around with the drivers again..Like i said, when i install the drivers the aircard no longer works....

i was able to fix three of the computers.. the fourth was corrupted by the drivers i put on (from ledco)...i brought the computer only back to the office and re-imaged it and the computer and aircard work fine....the other problem of the four ports was solved by just disabling the ports for EACH USER...i had originally disabled the ports of the administrator account and of course the computer attempted to load them when the officers signed on...So for now all is good....

Glad you were able to sort it out, and thanks for posting back with the resolution. The information may help someone else one day.
