I am trying to reinstall my scanner in WIN95. I just upgraded to a 30gb harddrive and reinstalled my original windows program. I used to have this scanner (Acer 6688) on this PC. Now I get an error message to add TWAIN32_DLL
I downloaded the file to a floppy but am 'brainfroze' as to how to add it and where.

That file, twain32.dll, should reside in C:\Windows directory. At least, that's where I have it.
Have you installed the scanning software for your scanner on the new drive? It should have put it in the proper place...
Anyway, hope this helps you out...Good Luck!

Yes I ran the software, and it installed the icons etc and the copier and textbridge but when I try to use them I get an error message to add that TWAIN file.
Someone told me WIN 95 does not support usb scanners but I had it nstalled and useable before the reformat so I know it CAN be done.
When I look in devise manager it shows the usb's to be working, but it also shows the scanner as ok sometimes....got me

Did you try copying that file from your floppy to C:\Windows directory? Still not working?
I tried to access Acer's website below to look for your drivers:
http://www.acercm.com/drivers/imaging_drivers.html
But they were not responding...I don't know if the site is down or what...you might try again later on.
Let us know how it goes...

That is where the brainfreeze is setting in...I can not figure out how to open the zip file and copy it to the C/directory
I know how I did it when I put my cdrom drive in while reinstalling windows in dos mode but it was a .exe file. (and it didn't work anyway because I had not changed the jumpers on the cd..LOL so I bought a new cdrom instead...know better now)
I tried it in explorer..just copy and pasting it, but I did not succeed.
I vaguely recall downloading some USB support thing last year when I first installed the same scanner, but devise mgr says the USB ports are on and working.

"I can not figure out how to open the zip file and copy it to the C/directory"
If you have WinZip, (or similar utility)...Open Explorer, navigate to that file on the floppy...double-click on it. You should get a new window...select that file...select Extract. When it asks where to place the extracted file(s), Browse to C:\Windows. It should happen pretty quickly.
If you don't already have WinZip or similar utility, go here to download the Evaluation Version of WinZip...its Free!

Keep us informed on how it's going...

Also, I finally got in to Acer's website:

But I couldn't find your model number...
