How do I Fdisk and format without floppy

I see at the closest place to find floppies they are scarce.
Also I have heard Computers without floppies. I know on
Compac I had recovery disk that would do all of the above
But now I have a custom built computer I built that would not
have recovery disk. XP home. I was just curios. Also where
is a place I can aquire training in case I need to edit the
REGISTRY to weed out all of the junk that lands there
from the internet.Before I had zone alarm internet
explorer would be on line by itself, without my knowledge.
I am hooked up to a router no log in.

With windows XP you can do the partitioning and formatting through the setup install.

Make sure your boot sequence is set to boot from CD Rom as first boot device and then go into setup and follow the instructions.

Training? Depends - teach yourself or get a book or go on a course?

Are you saying you are now running zone alarm?

The router should also provide some help with firewalling or NAT (network address translation).

ZA later versions come with privacy options which should get most of the nasties... if you want more get www.emsisoft.com a-squared.

I am sorry I meant to say I am using zone alarm now. With zone alarm
we suspect it is pinging the router occasionally because we have to reset
the router. When I did not have zone alarm, on the task bar you
would see a setup icon that would be installing adware. That is when I
was not on the internet.

Why do you need to reset the router just because it's pinged? The router either denies or accepts the ping and returns the icmp echo if accepted - it would not cause the router to need a reset.

Is the router also your internet connection device? EG cable or adsl? Sometimes the modem side of the router will desync with the line and a reset fixes this problem - if it happens alot upgrade the router firmware, if it happens after that have the line checked.

We have broad band with cable. Tall black box cable tv in, land card connection out, straight to router and then to four land cards. My brother has all of it downstairs I just have my computer up stairs. He has downloaded update
but is unsure how to load it in router.

Well what router is it? Do you have the manual for it? Have you looked on the site where you got the download for instructions on how to use it?

D Link DI604 I do believe my brother has the manual, I am not sure if he has read it.

Well assuming he cannot be bothered to read the manual......here is how it looks (http://support.dlink.com/emulators/di604_reve/tools_firmw.html) on the control screen in the router...

please also note here (http://www.dlink.com/products/support.asp?pid=62&sec=0#quickInstallGuides) there are two distinct versions of that model. You must download and install the correct firmware or your router will not function afterwards.

Thank you NOO NOO I will follow the instructions and do it myself.
Brother has gone to have additional training with ammonia
refrigeration, He will be gone a couple of weeks and I will be able to iron out problem. Thanks again for a fine research job.
