hi all -
i almost hate to ask this, but....
here's the story: i've got a cat hair sucked into my printer somehow (probably was stuck to one of the pages that fed in for printing - i vaguely remember thinking, "oh **** was that a cat hair on there?")
so now, everything i print has a cat hair printed on it.
i have a lexmark laser printer, the Optra E312L (it's about 6 months old).
is there any way for me to clean the piece of cat hair out of there? what would it be attached to?
any help appreciated!!!

The hair probable has burned into the heating element. The best option here would be to take the printer to a local repair shop. Rather let them handle it.

Yes, a new fuser unit isn't very cheap. Better let someone with experience take care of this one for you...

I suggest you first remove any cat that may be attached to the hair, then take the printer to a repair shop and let them do it.

I hope you didn't suck the poor cat into the printer ( The other post referred to removing the cat that was attached to the hair )
Cats are cool :) :)

Fusers operate in the >100C temp range- and that's hot enough to burn you and the cat hair. I seriously doubt ( and I work for a MAJOR laser printer manufacturer) that a single cat hair in the fuser component is the prob. I'd clean the lens and op_scanner unit then consider the OPC, before I call the techs in.
Cats and computers are not conducive.

The hair might be stuck to the drum in the toner cartridge. You could try replacing the toner cartridge and/or drum and see if that works. You could also try a can of compressed air to blow the hair free.
