Problems with a Compaq A1000

I have an old compaq a1000 from my old computer(compaq presario 7940) and i was going to install the printer to a new computer i just bought. However, whenever i try installing the printer on my new computer, a window comes up saying "device is not an NT product" before the installation even begins. i thought it was maybe because of my new computer being on xp pro vs 98, but that doesnt seem logical. Drivers might be an issue but, the printer would at least install if it was right?

any suggestions?
