It sounds like you may not have paid close attention to how the new drive was jumpered and on what cable and part of the cable it was on.
Did you hook it to the Primary IDE cable? Secondary IDE?
What else is on the same cable?
like cdrom or another HD?

Hello oh my god, I'm having a brain overload, I don't know what mother board I have. I also don't have a clue as to which cable slot on my mother board operate's each of my Hdd, call me stupid but most of my pc experience has been self taught.
But I do know which OS I am using ,lol amazing ah. It's win98 SE.
I have done several things , such as checking the cables for damage. battery check, differant dos prompts and I even tried to trick the pc by disconnecting one Hdd and then restarting my pc.
That wa also a waste of time , so it brings me back to square one. HELP , HELP.

ok, one thing at a time
motherboard details - download everest home (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html) and run it. Post what it says about your motheboard and bios revision.

Next... how much do you know about jumper settings on hard drives?

Hello NooNoo:
Thank-you for your fast reply, I did go to Everest home but really didn't see or maybe missed what you were talking about, I have been so frustrated with the long hours that I have been putting in, that sometimes I feel like I'm looking straight through the monitor. I think you know what I'm talking about, anyway I haven't really got a clue about jumper settings, but you only have to tell me once and I'll be alittle bit more knowledgable.

Thank-You Soooooo Much.
