I am looking at a very reasonably priced Minolta Magic Colour 2200 laser printer. I wonder if anyone has had any positive or negative experiences with this unit. How does the cost of consumables and parts stack up against more common printers such as HP and Lexmark?

Thanks.

While I personally don't have any experience with Minolta products, if you can get it for a good price, I say go for it. The quality of a laser printer is so much better than an inkjet. From what I've heard, HP 4550 has the lowest price per page.

See if you can get a 4500 someplace, you can probably get it cheaper, maybe as low as $1700 (sounds like a lot, but the cost per page difference might make it pay for itself in a little while)...

Just my $.02

Thanks.

The price of the Minolta printer is about $1500 Cdn (=$931.35 US,) and it comes with a NIC as standard hardware. It is obviously not competition for the HP4550, which is a much more robust printer with a more "industrial strength" duty cycle. But is inexpensive...

I have used my 2200 for well over a year and it has served me well. Here recently, had a problem with it wrinkling the prints. I have yet to figure out why, but overall it is a great printer.
