Hi there,

Since a few days Im having problems with my CD RW/DVD rom. Everything used to work fine, but suddenly the drive doesnt regonise DVDs any longer. When I insert a normal data/audio CD there are no problems, but with a DVD it says there's nothing in the drive.

I checked the region settings, which are correct, and I also re-installed the complete device which didnt work either, nor did rebooting.

My DVD rom is HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4320B, if thats of any help to you. I have no clue what else I can try, so I was hoping one of you could give me a suggestion? Im using Windows drivers v5.0.2183.1 (couldnt find any updates) signed @ 11/14/1999.
Edit: Im using win2000 pro btw

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
dopeh

Welcome to Windrivers dopeh

What are you using to playback dvds?
Are these shop bought dvds or burned dvds? data or movie?

Thanks =)

Im using WinDVD and PowerDVD. These dvds are original, none of them burned, and it's not a data DVD but a movie DVD, yes.

Does it keep prompting you for a disk , or does it show up as if it were blank in explorer ??

& what burning programs have we got ? & can they see the contents of any disks ? (use them instead of explorer to look)
