Need help finding a tool or utility that can completely remove Norton Anti Virus 2005 from this box. The box was totaly infested to the point it disabled the NAV, and the live update. I used the uninstaller, plus did all i could in the registy to delete NAV entries. When i try to re-install all i get is this message " Setup has detected that a previous install or uninstall has been completed but requires a restart. Please restart your computer then launch setup again." I have done this on numerous trys to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks Guys.

Try disable instmsi.exe installer from task manager if it is there.
Click on installer in task manager and then click end task

I came on here about an hour ago intending to post my problem and saw this thread. I have been trying to reinstal Norton Systemworks and NAV 2005 for weeks after I deleted it for some stupid reason when I was still stressed after our house move. I was so desperate I was even going to format my drive and do a clean instal of an otherwise good Windows XP Pro SP2 having already done an extensive Registry edit. I am so glad I found this and so grateful to Noo and everyone even if it wasn't me who asked for help on this thread. Your instructions and links were clear and helpful.

I downloaded the symNRT tool and I also cleaned the temp folder then I used msconfig to reinstal Systemworks/NAV 2005 in no programs load mode and it worked and I have just finished getting live updates in minutes with my lmb broadband. It was all so easy once I knew what to do. Thank you :)

Thanks guys. I tried all of the above, but for this box it was a complete do over because of the time element to get this system back up. Great info though for any problems down the road with NAV.
