MS Excel - Edit menu

I have a goofy problem. In Excel, if I hit alt+e, then the Edit menu doesn't drop. I can do this with all the other menus except Edit. I've uninstalled & reinstalled but got nowhere. Any ideas?

sounds like the shortcut key got reassigned. Have you tried assigning it to alt+e?

Open "Customize" from the Tools menu.
Click on the "Commands" tab.
Click on the "Edit" menu.
Click the "Modify Selection" button in the "Customize" window.
In the "Name" box, type a name for the menu command, with an ampersand (&) before the letter you want as the keyboard shortcut. (Mine looks like this - "&Edit")
Press enter.
Close the customize box.
