ok , silly but valid question , ive got a 4100tn printer sat here , on parrallel ,,,by accident the other day it was connected to a usb/parrallel artec adaptor (as used to run the EARLY usb/parrallel scanners)
ie: the printer lead that goes into the computer was connected to a female parrellel/usb.

low and behold 2k said it had found a new USB device ,,,,but was baffeled!!! the driver for the printer is "HP LaserJet 4100 PCL 6" ,,,,ok question?

anybody got any ideas (sensible please) as to what driver to "conn" this into using??

does anybody in retail (new products) espesialy HP know of any USB lasers (4100 or newer) that i can borrow the driver.

yes i know the machine has a 10/100 base card in it ,,,and no i dont want to go down that direction.

thanks freddy

Well, since your model does not come with an USB interface, there are no drivers available. If you insist on not going the faster Ethernet 10/100Base-TX, then parallel is the only other alternative. Just because your machine somehow ID'd it via the USB, doesn't mean you're going to be able to have the full bi-directional compliance required for proper operation. Go here for product specs for your LaserJet. Go here for Win2000 drivers. Also, notice the links there for Manuals...your User's Guides are available for download.

have got the manual and support disk (although i use drivers from website) ,,what is "wierd" is that when plugged thru adaptor it shows up as a "usb" device

anyway i will keep topic open "does anyone know of a HP laser 4100> that is USB" ?? if so what model then i can "kidnap" the drivers.
