I have an old latitude LS with a neomagic256av driver. I've got xp and running with more memory and harddrive and it works fine except for the display. It will only work in 800 by 600 and the colors are shaded particularly in pictures. Are there any other drivers out there that might clear this up? or work properly in 1024 by 768? Right now in this mode it doesn't fit to the screen. Thanks for your help

the vid should work in 1024x768 at least. You can try another driver for it but it may have a problem with the video itself. It is after all as you said old. So try another driver to see if that is successful but as said it might be dying

Video-drivers.com??? :eek2:
Be careful HAP, be verrrry careful.
XP drivers I would trust. What model Dell? What monitor do you have set up? What about bios? Can you temporarily hook up an external CRT monitor to make sure that the built in video is alright?

I will contradict YOU, or anyone when I see fit.
That site advertises "malware" and offers the same as downloads, and they promote user submitted drivers, which are NOT tested, unless you test them yourself.
Hence, I advise being REAL careful. In fact, Noo warned me about them a few years ago after I myself warned a new member about downloading anything from there after posting a link. Nothing wrong with being careful.
Listen, go to neomagic.com and they recommend www.windrivers.com for drivers!!!! That is US May. So what do you do? A quick google and refer someone to THAT site with untested drivers???? Come on now. At least MS tests their drivers...you know: MSQL...etc. The drivers for Neomagic included with XP are fine!!! Whether or not the chip is alright is another question altogether. Hence: using an external monitor as a test.

This is 2005 and not a few years ago when the site was bad with bad drivers and very messy. The site has user reviews for drivers uploaded and with anything on the net today it pays to read before downloading anything.
Like it or not for some drivers they are the only source readily available. Malaware, yes maybe, I haven't had any issue with any malaware from the site, no popups, no downloads so that statement is obsolete. Any website on the Interent today is user beware.
In my work I would use that site at least 20 times a week and have never had an issue with it. I do not recommend it for newer drivers but since drivergraveyard went down sometimes it is the only souce for older drivers.
Yes, windrivers does archive neomagic drivers. The user will have to pay for membership in order to download the driver.
he is most welcome to do that. Membership is very beneficial.

or he can try a free driver from my above link.

Considering the fact that I said this:

Be careful HAP, be verrrry careful.
And you said this:

I am now happy that it would seem that you agree with me.
So, again Hap: beware!
Read the reviews first...but I still wonder what the supposed problem is with the tried and tested XP built in driver. ;)
THAT is all I said May...you didn't need to have a hissy fit.

Umm If you had read my very first reply before you wasted all that time posting pointless and irrevelant replies in the effort to score a point, then you would have noticed my reply stated that it looked very much like an issue with the video adapter itself.
