I've just purchased a Wireless-G broadband Router 802.11g
I am running windows 98se. And I have verizon dsl.

I ran into problems trying to install the router. I did exactly what the directions said as far as connection with the wiring of one computer to the router and that's as far as I got because it keeps coming up router not found check your connections again.
I chose intel (R) PRO/100 & Alert on Lan Managment adapter. I wasn't sure if that was the correct adapter to pick. I'm lost here and don't know my mistake. What do the letters G and B on the router mean? Can anyone help me. I don't have a clue.

Welcome to the forums crazy212bme

You bought a Wireless-G Broadband Router, i.e. a combination device to do more than 1 thing.

Wireless G: This means your router can act like an Access Point and you can have a wifi network in your location. B/G are just different standards denoting the diffrent speeds.
802.11 B- 11mb/s
802.11 G- 54mb/s

Remember once you have the router setup, you need to limit your wifi/wireless network so not everyone nearby can use your dsl connection. Things like MAC address filtering, WEP/WAP, etc are important to protect your network from being accessed by others.

Broadband: This is for your cable/dsl connection, it allows the router to provide internet access to all the devices on the network.

Router: This allows you to have a network, the device acting as the gateway for all internet (via your broadband connection) & intranet (your home/office network)

You need to connect via a network cable (usually supplied with the router) the pc and the router. The Intel 10/100 network adapter is probably your NIC (network interface card) on the pc, connect that to the router. Then you need to setup the broadband part of it. You need to read the manual based on what model device you have as to how to access the router setup page. Most often its via the browser, you will have to go to the routers web interface for example http://192.168.1.1 on most Linksys brand routers and configure your broadband internet access there. Call Verizon for the right settings so you can either set it up yourself or have a tech from Verizon do it for you.
