CD-R combo not working

Hello, I have a Mat****a cw-8571 that is about a year old. Everything was working fine then it just stopped working. The light comes on like it tis getting power, but nothnig when I try to burn a cd or watch a dvd. Any help??? By the way I am running a P3 (806mhz) hp board, 319 RAM. I can't find the manufacturers website...it is made by Panasonic. Thanks

You didn't mention whether it could read anything - if it can't, see the sticky at the top of this section of the forum, & try the 'cd boot test' - if it fails that the units very probably broken ..
