Hello,

I'm not sure how this happened, my PC had to go away for a new DVD Re-writer to be fitted and a newer version of Nero was installed. But it may have been something I did since the PC came back?

Various 'seemingly important' files now have 'NeroMediaPlayer media files' as their 'type' but they are not those (see attachment).

I think some of these are .dat files, certainly FNTCACHE is.
perfi009 is a .dat file
But mlang is a .dll I think.
Oembios is a .bin file

I've Uninstalled Nero Media Player because I don't need it, but does anyone know how I 'disassociate' them from Nero Media Player?

And Windows bless it's little heart, appears to be running fine !

Toos-->Folder Options-->File Types

You can remove that particular extension all together, there dis-associating it with any program, or click on the extension-->Advanced and remove the open command.

Some programs have a tendency to auto-associate themselves with common extensions.

Mags,
To answer your question.

Start - Control Panel - Folder Options.

Click on the "File Types" tab, scroll down the list to find your file and click on it.

Then click on the 'Change' button and you will be able to set the association to your whatever program you want.

Maybe helpful for future reference.

Cheers!
