I am in the market for a decent printer without dumping a boat load of cash for one. I am having trouble choosing between the HP 845 or the Lexmark Z53?

I am going shopping for one tomorrow and am looking for advice? I heard lexmarks are so low cost due to the packard bell syndrom (Refurbished parts  )!!! That came out of an old lexmark tech I know.

The HP is low DPI but I hear it is an all around GREAT printer.. The lexmark is much higher.

I am looking for an all around printer. Everyday net printing and Playstation covers for my sons games. And every NOW and THEN photos. But not Superb quality photos. I would think you need like a $500 photo printer to get 100% photos, although I may be wrong...

Can some one offer me any ideas. I like the lexmark only for the DPI and the print head on the replacement cartridge. The eppson and the cannons I hear are fixed. Thus over time posible clogging or repair?

Thanks for any info...

I just got an HP Deskjet 845c in October for my birthday. Absolutely no problems at all so far. I haven't tested it on photo quality paper yet though, but I'm sure it will perform nicely on that too. The ink loads easily, paper hasn't jammed once, and setup time was really short. I hardly had to do anything. The DPI isn't the greatest in the world, but the prints are very clean and nice looking. No bleeding or anything like that. Count me in as a very satisfied customer.

Well i try to stay away from Lexmark as ive never had anything but problems with them, Personally i either use Cannon or Epson, but i only have a BJC6000 so im not really up to scratch on printers as of latley, but if i were you, i'd go with the HP, good luck
