I jjst purchased a new computer with Windows XP. Apparently my HP Plotter C1633A is not compatible with this new OS. Microsoft was no help and HP said "sorry, try a company called Winline". I checked with Winline and they want $200 for a driver that won't support Jpegs, bitmaps and other file types. That's not acceptable. I can't beleive HP doesn't have a solution. I can't afford a new plotter everytime I buy a new machine. I would greatly appreciate any help you may be able to offer me.

Thanks

Go here to read up on HP Designjet - Microsoft (R) Windows XP Support. Unfortunately, it lists your model as not being supported in WinXP.

Sorry I couldn't help out more. Let us know if you get a workaround...Good Luck!

It looks like HP dropped support for this plotter a long time ago. The only drivers they have are for Windows 3.x and NT 4!

It's sad, but the old plotters (especially the pen ones) have no new driver support. The last time we moved our engineering office, I threw out two old pen plotters simply because there were no drivers available anymore.

And don't expect 10 year old technology to print JPEG's or bitmaps anyways.

Sorry but it looks like you'll have to purchase a new plotter.

Unfortunatly, thats my biggest gripe about HP. Sure, they make great products, but their drivers aren't very compatable.

I had a 970 that wouldn't work with ME. It was a driver issue. To make the storey short, I had to wait 2 months before new drivers came out before I could use it.

Look at HPs plotters. See whats closest to what you have, and check the drivers for newer ones. They might work. I'd first checkout the ones in the same family.

It may take some time, and a lot of downloading, but there is a chance that at least one of them may work with it.

At work, we use the drivers for a laserjet 4MV although we have a 5000, and it works great.
