I am conected with my laptop Toshiba Portégé to a Wireless router Linksys WRK54G, that is connected with my ADSL speedstream as router mode.

I have a few experience with networking settings, but not wireless.

I am connected, signal is excellent and surfing over the internet. But whenever I am downloading some file, it starts and sudendly, stop and does not resume. Some times, it does the same with internet pages.

I made some settings on the WRK54G, such as:

Security Mode: WPA pre-shared key
Basic rate: ALL
Control TX Rate: auto
Preamble type: short preamble
Authentical type: Open system

Does any one has some tips on this matter?

Appreciate some replies.

Check this setting on the router setup.

If the Keep Alive option is not selected, be sure to select it instead of the ‘Connect on Demand’ option. The ‘Keep Alive’ option will ensure that your connection stays connected even when it is not in use.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Save Settings, or Apply button depending on router model, to save your changes.

Verify that MTU is set to 1492 and not to 1500 or auto. But to isolate the problem try connecting with a cable instead of wireless and see if it works fine or not.
