Microsoft's replacement for Microsoft Antispyware is not without its problems. I have been receiving error messages after it does its daily scan. Twice I have uninstalled it (with difficulty) and reinstalled. Still getting error messages. It is more troublesome than its predecessor. I am going to stay away from it until Microsoft irons out the bugs.
Anyone else having problems?

Hmm. It hasn't given me any problems but its pretty new so im not suprised there a few bugs and kinks in it. For anyone who wants to try it you can find it here (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=435bfce7-da2b-4a6a-afa4-f7f14e605a0d&DisplayLang=en) You will need a Valid copy of window$

Woody, it works fine for me. I have gripes about the interface, but none about functionallity. What error messages are you getting?

I see so many error messages during the week at work, I don't remember exactly. It is something like "Windows Defender has encountered a problem. Please reboot or reinstall the program."
It happened within a couple of days of installing it. It was obviously screwed up because I couldn't uninstall it by using "Add-Remove."

Is there anything in event viewer about it, or anything 'abnormal' relating to other things ? - I've had errors with Microsoft Antispyware but only when I've also found corrupted WMI repositories (its dependent on some of the counters used by that)

Could be the reason. I'll check it out.

Confus-ed.

I checked the Event logs for Windows Defender. Found two types of error messages. The first said "Windows Defender Service terminated w/ the following error. The system cannot find the file specified (netevent.dll)." The other more frequent error/warning messages said: "The description for Event ID (xx) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer."
