VIA Tech board agp slot not working

I have three workstations with VIA boards VT82C586B. They currently use PCI video cards but I need to use AGP cards but the slot does not recognise anything is present (Blank screen at boot). I have not installed PCI and AGP at the same time as I have had some problems doing that with other boards in the past. I have tried a AGP driver update to no avail. Which exactly motherboards and videocards? I guess,You're trying to use Riva TNT based videocards in those motherboards. I've seen similar problem, and it was caused by BIOS incompatibility.Latest BIOS update did the trick. Try it.

What O/S you running? I have had that happen with Win2K if i didn't install the 4 in 1 pack before i installed video driver.

i dont think installing a via 4-in-1 pack would do a lot at boot-up QUOTE: anything is present (Blank screen at boot).

i think u may have a compatability prob between your m/board(s) and the AGP cards you are fitting .........
1 <IMG SRC="smilies/tongue.gif" border="0">lease try another brand/make of AGP card in m/board
2: try the origonal vid card in another brand/make of board.
either 1 or 2 should give u an answer.

Also check the BIOS setting for which video card initializes first on the system, sometimes if you have PCI selected, the AGP will be completely disabled on AMI BIOS systems. Update the BIOS and try this setting, should solve the problem.
