I just bought an Icatch VI webcam off ebay. The item arrived without a driver and I am trying to find a driver from the web. I have found the driver from the manufacturers website and installed it..it seems to install the driver fine....but when i plug in the Webcam, it doesnt recognize the driver and Windows asks you to locate the driver.
Do you know if the driver that i am installing could be faulty?
I am running from Windows XP.

Hello Farhadb
Hi all,
The item arrived without a driver and I am trying to find a driver from the web.
I don't know why you paid cash for your Icatch VI and you didnt insist on getting its driver. I just installed the last of my three new Icatchs for my clients. Each has its own driver.Even with the Driver CD some fumble with the installation.
I have found the driver from the manufacturers website and installed it..it seems to install the driver fine....
But let's Verify this :--
1---Did you get to the last window where you have to click on "Finish" during installation ?
2---Did your PC notice the USB when you slotted it in and did it say " Found New Hardware ".?
but when i plug in the Webcam, it doesnt recognize the driver and Windows asks you to locate the driver.
If you're able to get the "Finish " button after this installation step ,that doesn't mean you've finished the installation. From there you've to plug in the USB of the Icatch and wait till the system notices the Icatch and starts to install additional files.Don't plug the Icatch's USB till you've click the "Finish" button.
Do you know if the driver that i am installing could be faulty?.
I think this is where the problem comes from .The "Found New Hardware " window appears and it starts to install additional files to control the Icatch 'cos you don't hv to plug the Icatch before the first "Finish" button .So it asks whether you want to automatically install the files or select a location where the file is ( this location is the driver files needed for the installation of the additional files ).
Note :- Just choose
1-Yes, this time only, then click "Next "
then,
2-to automatically install.
If you are able to continue from here it'll bring other windows which will tell you the software you're installing hasn't passed windows testing but just ignore that by clicking "continue anyway" and i believe you'll be through with it.
This is not a total quarantee ,so if it doesn't work then insist on getting your driver ,but you can also chat back.
If you can also get the instructions for installing the driver you got from the web then follow it like A,BC,D,E...........Z.
Its worths the patience.

Hi Gab,
Many thanks for your response. I took your advice and let the supplier know. They posted the driver onto a hosting site and i downloaded it from there. After a bit of hiccups i managed to install the driver correctly and connected the camera after installation. It now works well.
Thanks again for your help...

Farhad

Hi! gaz18. I got my camera to work yesterday. The seller sent me a driver. Email me at dolly@gimenesfamily.com and I'll send you a driver that works. Your friend should uninstall the old driver and install this new one. Hopefully that will work out. My webcam works fine. Not green.

I bought several of these wee cameras from the local supplier, and only 2 had this problem of an all green screen. Further investigation came up with different driver versions, so i uninstalled their driver, deleted the driver file, re installed using my copy, and all sweet.

Gah...I tried to get that Globeyes program going as I have experienced similar problems with my ICatch (almost black image which is also inverted). When I try to run the driver program...it comes up with an error windon with the 16 bit Windows Subsystem heading. It reads
'C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.'
I get it whenever I try to run an MS-DOS based installer for say an old PC game...what does it mean??
Thanks

Actually...its not all good.
When I go to plug the webcam back in, the Wizard searches for the software to install it (as I previously deleted everything) and says this file is needed:
SPCA561.SYS.
Any suggestions?

You should find it on your xp disk... use SFC to expand the file... failing that put the filename into google...

here are 4 different ways (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888017)
With sfc, you start the sfc wizard and tell it you want to expand one filel.

I searched for the file through google and downloaded the driver. Put it in a file and plugged the camera in again.
It asked me for the file which I pointed to.
It said the device was installed and ready to use, but it wasnt in My Computer or my Device Manager.

A usb camera would not show up in my computer. It should show up under scanners and cameras in control panel.
It will show up in the camera software...what are you using with the webcam to send images? MSN? Yahoo?

It is there...but it doesn't seem to be working.
I plugged it in to my parent's compy and it worked fine.
If I look on my msn now...its not registering it, there may be more stuff missing than I thought.

If XP64 will allow you to run the driver in 32bit mode, that is you only hope.

I bought a cam, I am unsure of what it is actually.. I bought it from ebay. It came in a black and green box and all it says is Digital Product PC Camera. Ive installed the software, but when I turn the cam on through Yahoo its a black screen. When I open the AMCAP to take a still pic. When I do so, its a blank white screen.
Any information would be helpful.. I can supply a picture of the camera if need be.
Thank you very much.

Okay, I'm running Vista Premium Home Edition. Is anyone aware of a driver update for the camera? Every time I try to install from the CD, it tells him that the driver isn't compatible.
I have had this cam for over a year.. i turned it on tonight to use it an my picture is either green or dark.. I dont not have the CD for this any longer. I tried to do a restore on my pc to see if this would correct it but it only goes back one day.. an that shows the same thing.. dark or green.. HEED HELP PLEASE !! ANYONE ?

Okay there are 3 pages of suggestions ....
Farhadd if you get this message can you please upload your drivers that the supplier gave you ?
All i know about my web cam is the following .
USB 10.0M 6 LED Webcam Web Cam Camera for PC Laptop+Mic
the drivers are here (http://rapidshare.com/files/3423390/Globeyes.zip.html) When the page opens, choose free user - the download is slower, and it's 20 mb, so it will take a while, but it should sort your problem. If it doesn't, you need to open the camera and look which chip is inside it and post the details.

Welcome to Windrivers Secoyr
Did you get a driver disk with the web cam?
Did you install the drivers from the cd BEFORE you plugged in the webcam?
If you installed every driver, did you uninstall the previous one? Sounds like you have a nice driver minestrone cooking.

I bought 5M Pixel USB Webcam Web Cam Camera for PC Laptop+Mic (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290334871563&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT) off ebay and am trying to get it to work, however when I installed the software it came with on the disk (videocap) and I plugged in the usb, it said found new hardware and started to install, however it said it could not complete the install because there was no driver. I have been searching a lot of websites and cannot find where I need to download this driver from, I even tried the Globeyes thing and could not get it to work. I am running windows 7 if that matters. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Sadly, Doyle, the ad there says "Support OS: Windows 98 / 2000 / Me / NT / XP / Vista 32bit 64bit" - 7 is NOT mentioned.
Does 7 have an emulation mode? Try that.

Yeah I tried running it in compatibility mode for vista and also xp. neither of them work. usually software that says compatible with vista works with windows 7 so I dont really think that is the issue. I dont really get why it doesnt work..

The design flaw of such programs and driver installers is that they have it coded into them to send a request for what version windows is running. Windows reports back with a name not listed for the installer and the program then assumes it's an out of date version of windows and cancels the installation. Your best bet is if it's a simple installer is using winrar or 7zip to manually decompress the installer, if it allows you to, then doing an install by hand of the drivers and possibly the software package.
