integrated Soundmax not working

I recently built my second pc, Asus P4P800 SE I have been to the asus website and downloaded the updates but still nothing. I have been using Driver dective to find the problem and it says my driver is bad I have uninstalled and reinstalled my soundmax. But it still is not working I don't know what i should do next.

have you booted to safe mode and removed any references to the soundmax in device manager under Sound and Video controllers?
Also go to the add remove programs and see if it is in there as well and if it is remove it
