Hello  ,

I just got the Vista x86 beta 2 installed last night. I got everything how I like it and now I've discovered my 250GB SATA drive isnt found.

Heres a few things that should be noted:
-My Primary drive is a 120GB IDE
-Both worked previouslly on XP
-Currently in my Device Manager it shows that a Mass Storage Controller needs to be installed
-Im going nuts without my media!

Has anyone else had this problem and of course, does anyone have a sollution or suggestion?

Welcome to Windrivers, Sentry.

I guess you can try the floppy disk that should have the SATA controller software on it, or if it is on the Mainboard CD, you can try letting Vista install it from there.

Thanks for your reply, so far I've been able to download beta drivers from nvidia since my MB is a nvidia chipset. Unfortunately nvidia doesnt offer an installer but I was able to install an unsigned driver labeled "NVIDIA nForce4 Serial ATA RAID Controller" sucessfully. Yet, when I reboot it still does not display my HD.

I checked my bios and it does show my HD there so I know it still works...

Go to Nvidia and follow the beta drivers link, there you'll find the N4 driver set for Vista, unzip it and collect all the files that are not in folders and drop them on a floppy, they come to 626k in all and they are, disk1,idecoi.dll, nvatax(either 64 or 86 depending on which you want).sys,nvraid.cat, nvraidco.dll, nvrdx64(or 86).inf, nvrdx64(86).sys and finally txtsetup.oem,

all these can be found in one folder also look in /IDE/driver/sataraid where you will find the same files in one place.

Thats what I've already done, this installed the driver I named above. Still doesn't list my drive.

Thanks for your post :)

Have you tried using Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc) to see if the drive is seen but needs to be imported?

When you get to the install hard drive driver, it will if you have the 'hide drivers not compatible with my hardware' it's buggy, clear the box shows all the drivers, select the N4 sata driver and it will install and work fine.

Awsome, seems it was a 'Basic' drive without a partition or filesystem which is why it wasnt showing up. In windows XP it automatically converts it to a Dynamic drive. So all I did was convert my drive to dynamic and my world comes back togeather.

Here (http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/howto-20.html) is more information. (popups)

Thanks to everyone who replied!
