I'm looking for a good (FREE) defrager. All I have now is...
SpeeDefrag(runs in a DOS box on bootup with no progress bar. Have NO idea what it's doing).
Pagedfrg(runs on bootup for about 2 seconds).
And of course the horrible defrag that comes with windows(can't control what it's doing and it takes eons to complete).
I liked Diskeeper and PerfectDisk but their trials ran out.
:thumbs2:

Windows defrag doesn't really take too long IF you do it once a week.
Routine Maintenance is much better than infrequent catastrophe.
Clear your cache, files, etc from bowser(s) and use Disk Cleanup THEN defrag.
lol

You can run the native XP defrag at a command line which means you can create a batch file and then set up a scheduled task to run it whenever you want.
If you open a cmd window from the run command in the Start Menu then type defrag /? in you will see all the parametres possible.
The native defrag in XP is licensed by MS from Executive who are the makers of Diskeeper so what you are using is in fact a watered down version of that.

Is this in fact on a XP system or some other OS?

I assumed so as it is in the XP forum but as my granny used to say "never assume, as it can make an *** out of u & me". :)

Then if you want a good defrag other then the windows one you will likely have to pay for it
like Disk Keeper

Guess you're right. I did find a free version of Diskeeper tho (Diskeeper Lite).
It's limited but it does the job.
Thanx
