Toshiba No Active Mixer device ( no Sound)

I abviousley have a sound problem, Im am pretty sure it is a driver but I can not locate the driver and I dont have the installation CD. I have a laptop it is a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300 series. I am running windows XP. If you need to know the type of motherboard I have you will need to let me know how to find out that info.

The Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300 driver download page (http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modItemList.jsp?moid=1073769765&ct=DL&BV_SessionID=@@@@0919368935.1152045749@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccdaddiejhjhkhcgfkceghdgngdgmn.0) has a driver for Windows 2000. There's a sporting chance that this will work on XP as well.

Well I have tried those drivers but I still don't have any sound are there any more ideas? The computer came with windows 2000 but was upgraded to XP, and the sound did work for a while then just crapped out.

Well still no luck, it still says that there is no audio device and I am unable to adjust anything. I have tried the DS XG driver,AC XG driver, for xp and windows 2000. I actually tried like 10 variants of them from different site, and all with the same result (nutin). So mabey their is a bigger problem than I thought. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I think you need to go to the below site download and run Everest to see exactly what motherboard sound etc. is on your laptop.

For the heck of it...before you try street1 suggestion, a good one, try going into Device Manager and deleting the the item under Sound,video and game controlers and after a restart, try reloading the drivers.

OK, i tried to uninstall and reinstall, but still had the same results. I ran the everest program and it says that the motherboard ID is <DMI> and the name is Toshiba Satellite Pro 4340. So where can I go to find a driver for that board?

Well i downloaded the SIS 7012 drivers but there is still no sound. It says that everything is working properly but when i go to the volume tab it still says that there is no audio device..
