I have a Novell network, a HP LAser jet Series II networked printer and when the VP goes to print her Pc locks up.

I have installed drivers too many times. She is running Win 95 - long story, and printers from a DOS application and windows apps. HP does not have an actual driver on the web - they say to use the one on the CD.

Have I missed something. I have run scandisk, defrag, cleaned out temp files, ETC..... All of that.

Thanks

You can only use win95 mini-driver for old hp printer. Seem you may have limited system resources this might be cause to your problem. Try to close all background program then try to print, see if it still lock your system. Anyway, this printer is out-of-support live from HP.

Does the computer lock up when trying to print in an accounting program or all programs?
If it is an accounting program, you need to make another copy of the printer on the computer that is sharing the printer, and share copy(2). The reason for this is so you can go into the spooler properties and check, print directly to printer.

It seems to lock up the PC at all times.

We have an accounting package and MS word running as well. Should I mess with the settings of the printer and if so - which ones would help ??

thanks to all

Right click on the printer icon, go to properties, details folder, spool settings, and check, print directly to printer.
